Etsyetera: Favorite New Shops

Congratulations to Tonya Mitchell- she won the favorite things Valentine giveaway!

I have been on etsy a little too much lately! But, I have a few new favorite stores that I wanted to share with you all! Happy Shopping!

I recently bought a new Bible and wanted a fun cover. I found Heartmee on Etsy and loved her style and her prices! I messaged with her and she agreed to make me a cover using a button from my husband's grandmother's collection. My husband's grandmother was a Godly woman who taught Sunday School and loved the Lord all her life. I love that I have a modern and funky cover and a family heirloom attached to it. She makes covers for most anything!

Crowning Petals is my favorite place for over the top beautiful hair pieces for Abby. I love checking the mail when I have a package coming from Dina. She is fast, uses such great scraps, and produces the best quality hairpieces. Abby have 4 of them and I love them all! I highly recommend making a custom one- just convo Dina and tell her what you want. I have had her make basic color combinations for me to make sure Abby gets lots of wear out of them. We recently took Valentine pics with a pink and white one. It made the picture!

When Big Mama revealed her new living room, I fell in love with the Between You & Me Sign above her mantle. The signs from this etsy shop are perfectly rugged, washed out, and spiritual! They are a professional version of my handmade sign, tutorial here. I love this one!

I am always looking for cute boutique clothing for Abby Lu. I typically buy her two high quality dresses each year- Spring and Christmas. Sugar Creek Kids is my new favorite shop- I found Abby's Easter dress there and it shipped in 2 days! Amazing turnaround and the best use of fabric combinations I have seen in a long time!

Photo Prop Chair

We are having family photos done this weekend and I have the vision in my head of us all looking perfect, smiling big, and the sun shining just enough to create magic and not blind us.

Part of that vision is an old chair that perfectly matches our outfits as a prop for us to sit on. I hunted Goodwill stores around town and found this "beauty" for $10. It wasn't exactly the shape I had in mind, but the price was right!

I wanted to paint the chair an orange spice color to match a portion of my daughter's dress. I bought a small tub of Annie Sloan Barcelona Orange and added the red and cream I already owned. It started out too pink, so I kept adding red to help. I used all of the orange or I would have added more. I should have started with orange and red first and then added cream if needed.

See what I mean- the first coat scared me. This would be cute in a little girls room, but doesn't match my spicey orange vision!

After two coats I took it outside to see how it would photograph in the sunlight.

It is much closer to my color that the first coat inside. Now, I had a big decision to make- clear wax or dark wax? I painted a small sample on wood and applied dark wax. It made the pink/orange color much more of a rusty brown, so I decided to keep it bold and went with clear wax, after a little sanding of course!

Here is the finished product with the inspiration dress... what do you think?

I think it is going to work well! It is a pop of color among a brown field that will draw your eye into my color scheme. I am wearing peach, ivory and camel and my husband is wearing butter yellow.

Another big part of my vision was a crazy made to match hair piece for my daughter. Check out who I found on Etsy- her work is amazing and my custom hairpiece is a perfect match!

Fabric Wrapped Bracelets

I listed something new in my Etsy store and I love them!

I have been waiting on my supplies to come in and they finally arrived on the perfect day when my daughter and I had nothing on the schedule. I crafted all day long and love the finished product!

These bracelets are soft, colorful, fun, and something a little different! I love the color options from using designer fabrics including my favorites like Amy Butler, Alexander Henry, and Michael Miller. I have always loved their designs, but not being able to sew really limited how much fabric I needed.

These bracelets come in a set of 3 and include a Tibetan silver charm on one of the bracelets. Plus, I am happy to do a custom order to match your favorite outfit or kid's school colors!

Get this- they are just $12 for the set and 10% off as a blog reader. The coupon code is LITTLEBIRDIE.

Happy shopping!

Valentine Yarn Wreath DIY

I have seen some cute wreaths on Pinterest and etsy lately and wanted to make sometime for my door for Valentine's Day. I was ultimately inspired most by this wreath and this one.

So I ventured to Hobby Lobby and bought an inexpensive wreath form, some yarn and felt. I bought two pieces, but only used one. In total, supplies were around $10. Did you know that you can pull up the 40% off coupon on your phone and they'll accept it! Love that!

I started by tucking the tail of the yarn sideways on the wreath and then began the long and tedious process of wrapping the whole wreath.

Frame Collage

I fell in love with Delta Girl frames months ago and bought my first set for my craft room earlier this summer. I love them in there so much that I wanted another set for the main part of the house. Just inside my entry I had a large silver framed collage. That silver had been removed from all other parts of my entry, so it made the perfect open wall for new Delta Girl frames.
Her friends are super thick- literally big pieces of wood, stapled, painted, scraped and aged to make timeless frames. These each hold a 5x7 picture and are 12x14 inches large.
The other thing I love- you customize them. I was able to pick the prints, the colors and even the trim and trim colors. She builds them completely custom just for you!
For me, Delta Girl frames are a splurge, but I know I'll have them forever and they truly become a work of art in the home. Just in case you are wondering, I wasn't asked to write this post. I just love her stuff and thought you might as well.

You can find her on etsy and on facebook. Enjoy!

Favorite Etsy Stores

Is etsy a store you have to stop yourself from visiting too often? Yea, me neither ;) I love it and have added a few shops to my favorites so I thought I would share.

Ella Champ frames are amazing! They aren't cheap, but the colors, patterns and thickness are to die for! I love them all. Maybe one day I'll try to make myself one. You have to consider them art and then the price doesn't seem so bad in comparison.
Berkley's Clippies were my very first etsy purchase! I was home on maternity leave and searching for things for my baby girl. I love the color combinations, the size and softness of her clips. Abby is 2 1/2 and still wears these clips!
How beautiful is this hair piece by Cozette Couture? She has lots of these amazing pieces. I'd love one for Abby's photos in a couple of years. Right now I think they would overtake her.Funny side note, the owner of this store is the ex-wife of Bentley who starred on this season of the Bachelorette.
Laughing Giraffe has some adorable dresses and boys rompers for southern Mommas who love to monogram! I love the dress on the left- I'd wear it!
Finally, I have ordered 2 pieces from Tamar and I love love love her stuff. It is bold and delicate. I love the colors. She has cute little earrings also. I love them all!
Just to be clear, nobody asked me to post this, paid me, or even knows who I am. I just love their stuff and wanted to share!

Happy Shopping!

Etsycetera: Yo Gabba Gabba

My little girl (and her cool Daddy) loves Yo Gabba Gabba. She asks to watch that show daily and enjoys singing along with the characters. With Christmas and her second birthday around the corner along with tickets to see them live on Saturday, I have spent a little time shopping Gabba gear online.
Here are my favorite Etsy options in case you have a little Gabba girl too!

Super cute and colorful cupcake toppers

I just love the hairbows with the bottle cap characters- so cute!

Finger Puppets of the whole gang (great stocking stuffer!)

Plex Outfit (we bought just the shirt to wear on Saturday)

The Queen Bed is Younger than my Parents!

Did you know married couple didn't sleep on a queen bed until the 1960's? I know this because I've been dreaming of an antique rod iron ed for my guest bedroom and discovered only twin and full at antique shoes, garage sales, and online.

So, I decided to buy a new bed and will attempt to make it look old. I bought this bed in white (the fun colors are reserved for twin!) and Rustoleum Cardinal Red spray paint. You can buy it in twin, full or queen; with a headboard only or headboard, footboard, and frame; and it comes in white, red, blue, yellow and green! With free shipping, I am SOLD!My poor gesutbedroom had really become the hand-me-down room with furniture and bedding we had used 10 years ago. I'm so excited to spruce it up and will share it all with you in the next few weeks.
I seriously contemplated buying this headboard? Can you tell it is a wall decal sold at Etsy? There are lots of options on their site and lots of styles and colors. I think it would be great for a small room because it gives the illusion of a headboard and takes up no space at all. My husband ultimately vetoed the idea because you enter this room at the head of the bed and it would be really obvious. Perfect for a room where you enter at the foot of the bed.

ETSYcetera- Labels

I love playing with paper- stickers, Sharpie pens, stationary, cardstock, scrapbook papers! You name it- I cut and paste with the best of them. Labels have come so far from the white rectangles Avery makes for Office Depot. Look at some of these options on Etsy.
Share a book or just mark it as your own with these adorable bookplates. Stick them right inside the front cover. There are options galor with these- fun colors, classy subdued colors, from butterflies to bicycles. I bet you could even customize to read: "This belongs to:" and your name. Leaving book out of it, this could be stuck to all kinds of stuff!
Everything that enters my daughter's classroom at school must have her name on it- that is sippy cups, bowls, spoons, tupperware, bibs, backpack, etc. It is maddening how much stuff goes to school each morning (and has to be washed each night!). So, I found these dishwasher safe labels on etsy and have been using them. Super cute in pink argyle!

These little birdie scalloped tags would be perfect gift tags. I would put "Given with Love" on the top and "The Jenk Family" on the bottom. Then you can buy a roll of cute pastel plaid paper and have these ready to go. They aren't sticky, but a piece of tape on the back will fix that. They are $5 for 25 tags.

I love the finishing touches on a present or a thank you note, so of course I love cute address labels. Look at these, just $14.00 for 24 labels and you custom pick the members of your family, the color, etc. How sweet would these be for a new baby in the family on announcements?
With over 17,000 labels on Etsy, I'm betting you'll find a set you can't live without!

ETSYcetera- Rosette Bib Necklaces

I've been looking around on Etsy lately and I am in love with rosette bib necklaces? Have you seen these beauties?
Or, this one?

There are over 740 of them on etsy right now! Well, 738 because these two belong to me now.
These are a great statement necklace. Each of them was under $40 and there are many available for less than $20. I love the top one with a black sweater and yellow shoes. The pinky red one looks great with a white shirt and jeans.
If you are feeling crafty and thinking, I can make that. Etsy also has PDF tutorial on making these necklaces for sale. They are just $5!

ETSYcetera- Birdies!

There are so many cute birdie things out there and with Spring coming (eventually!) I know we'll all be chirping with excitement! Here are some of my favorites from Etsy.
Cute labels to put on your packages, return on your envelopes or even with a "this book belongs to" purpose.

I am all about the fun brooches right now!

Cute farmhouse birdie towels

A fun necklace, or...

... a more refined one.

These would be so cute in a windowsill.

oh how I would love to go back in time and put this hat on my daughter.

Love these little birdie clips for a girl, big or little!

All of these items and hundreds more can be found searching BIRDIE. Happy Shopping!
